As one of America ’ s leading suppliers of decorative pillows and soft furnishings , Brentwood Originals ( Brentwood ) has provided an extensive range of pillows , chair pads , poufs , and backrests for more than 65 years . Through investments in manufacturing machinery and a strategic focus on the supply chain , Brentwood stays a step ahead of its competitors to offer beautiful products with superior service .
The business was founded in 1958 by Harold ‘ Hal ’ Alden , who began selling decorative pillows and quilted bedspreads from a showroom in Los Angeles . Hal began as an importer , first sourcing from Japan , which required tiresome trips overseas prior to the emergence of container shipments . Hal later acquired one of 50 US-China business visas secured by President Nixon in 1972 . As a result , Brentwood began importing from China in 1973 and has done so ever since .
As the company grew , additional capacity and new facilities were required , and a new nationwide distribution system totaling over one million square feet of manufacturing space was constructed . Today , Brentwood remains a privately held company but has slightly expanded its product range to include window treatments , throws , and a wide range of outdoor , UV resistant pillows . With three distribution centers in California , Ohio , and Michigan , Brentwood serves customers across America with excellent products and service .
